About

Expedition Multi-Sport – Colorado 7th–8th Grade is a weeklong multi-sport expedition camp where campers bike the park’s extensive trails, go standup paddleboarding, hike, and go white water rafting. During the session, they also camp, sleep in tents, cook their own meals on camp stoves, maintain a campsite by setting up and breaking down equipment and keeping the space tidy, and spend downtime playing games and sharing stories around the campfire. The program includes structured times for morning circle, self and group care, evening circle, evening activities, and teambuilding focused on communication, problem solving, and teamwork practice.

Campers are in groups of no more than 13 with 2 staff members. Avid4 instructors are all 18 and older and are described as mature, responsible, and excited to be sharing their passion with kids, with serious safety and skills training. The leadership team includes founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry.

The program follows Avid4 Adventure’s mission, which states a belief in the transformative power of the outdoors and describes camps where kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The organization states that it does everything in its power to keep kids safe while giving them the knowledge and confidence to take calculated, well-communicated risks. Expedition Multi-Sport – Colorado 7th–8th Grade is described as a weeklong multi-sport expedition camp with a different adventure every day, a difficulty rating of 1 – Entry Level Adventure, and a wilderness rating of 1 – Improved Site Camping with basecamp tents and no showers or running water, with all water brought to site filtered for drinking, hand washing, and food preparation.
