Single-day adult art classes are structured for students to learn a new skill or renew an old one, and instructors can adapt lessons to any skill level. All supplies are provided by the Museum for single-day adult art classes so that students can experiment without having to buy their own. The Museum provides educational and community gathering spaces in both the main Museum building and the Beet Education Center, and a revised expansion design incorporates the acquisition of The Beet (formerly the Reporter-Herald building) to allow greater opportunities for both history and art classes in a wide variety of subjects, styles, and media. A new exhibit on the history of firefighting, presented by retired Loveland firefighters, and a research library are under development for The Beet. The Loveland Museum elevator is out of service until early March.

Loveland Museum was founded in 1937, and Harold Dunning began collecting pioneer artifacts and stories as early as 1919. The City of Loveland took over operations of Dunning’s pioneer museum in 1945, and a generation has passed since the Museum’s last expansion in 1992. The Museum has a 37,000-object history collection. Its mission is “Enriching lives and connecting our community through diverse arts and history experiences.”

Loveland Museum is an accredited art and history museum and received accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums. Less than 5% of museums in the United States are accredited, and Loveland Museum is one of only three accredited institutions in Northern Colorado. Loveland Museum is described as an integral part of the cultural landscape in Northern Colorado and supports schools, other non-profit organizations, and events in and around the community, with priority given to local organizations and those with a history, arts, or education focus.
