About

Loveland Ski & Ride School – Children’s Lessons offers skiing lessons, snowboarding lessons, and children’s group lessons in both skiing and snowboarding. The program also offers children’s full-day lessons and children’s private lessons for skiing and snowboarding. Private lesson options include half-day, 2-hour, and 6-hour sessions.

• Ages: 3–14 years old
• Schedule: Children’s full-day lessons for ages 4–6 and 7–14 run 5.5 hours, from 10:00am to 3:30pm, with check-in beginning at 8:00am; private lessons are available in 2-hour, 3-hour (half-day), and 6-hour formats.
• Price: Children’s full-day lessons for ages 4–6 and 7–14 are $239 including group lesson, lift ticket, rental equipment, lunch, and snacks; half-day (3-hour) private lessons are $399 for 1 student with $100 for each additional participant; 2-hour private lessons are $349 for 1 student with $100 for each additional participant; 6-hour private lessons are $799 for 1 student with $100 for each additional participant.

Loveland’s Ski & Ride School states that it has a lesson package to help children reach the next level, with expert instructors creating a supportive, fun, and safe environment where kids ages 4–14 can build skills, boost confidence, and make lasting memories on the snow. Children’s full-day lessons for ages 4–6 are small group classes with a maximum of 4 students per instructor, and children’s full-day lessons for ages 7–14 have a maximum of 8 students per instructor, with classes for ages 7–14 grouped by ability level in mixed-age groups. The lift ticket included with children’s full-day lessons provides full-mountain access, and rental equipment for these lessons includes skis or snowboard, boots, bindings, helmet, and goggles. Kids in the 4–6 age group who ride the chairlift are always accompanied by Loveland Ski & Ride School staff, and children ages 7–14 may ride the chairlift alone, with another child in their group, with a Loveland employee, or with a member of the public, managed by instructors based on ability and comfort.

Private lessons are open to ages 3 and older for half-day and 2-hour options, and to ages 7 and older for 6-hour lessons, for all ability levels. For private lessons, children ages 6 and under are limited to a maximum of 2 participants per lesson, and children ages 7–14 can have up to 4 participants per lesson, with similar ability levels recommended. The 6-hour private lesson option is not available for ages 6 and under, and private lessons include priority lift access at Chairs 1, 2, 3, and 7. Rental equipment and lift tickets are not included in private lesson pricing. Parents must provide their child with waterproof gloves, waterproof snow pants, a jacket, and sunscreen, and these items may be purchased in the slope-side Sport Shop at Loveland Valley.

Reservations are strongly recommended for all children’s lessons and all Ski & Ride School lessons, especially on weekends and holidays. Walk-ins for children’s lessons and Ski & Ride School lessons are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis depending on availability, and the program states that the only way to guarantee a lesson or a child’s spot is by making a reservation in advance. Cancellations and rescheduling are subject to a fee, and any cancellations or rescheduling must be completed by the start time. The cancellation policy states that cancelling a reservation 24 hours or more in advance of the start time results in a full refund, cancelling within 24 hours or after the start time results in a 50% refund, and cancelling after a prior reschedule also results in a 50% refund. The rescheduling policy states that rescheduling before the scheduled start time has no charge for the first rescheduling, rescheduling more than once before the scheduled start time has a $20 fee for each additional reschedule, and rescheduling after the start time has a $20 fee even if it is the first rescheduling. The program specifies that sending an email, leaving a message, or attempting to call is not sufficient for cancellations or rescheduling, that full refunds are only issued to cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance, and that once a reservation is rescheduled, it is only eligible for a 50% refund.
