Williams Tennis School states that it has two primary goals every time it teaches or coaches a tennis player: have fun and improve.
Williams Tennis School, LLC was hired in the spring of 2022 to be the Pro (concessionaire) for the City of Loveland, Colorado, and will offer CARA programs and programs for all ages and abilities that can feed into the Front Range Academy. The program states that it is hoping to start a new tennis boom in Loveland and create a tennis culture in the community. It currently offers UTR events, tournaments, junior circuits, and weekly sanctioned competition for rating in Loveland, Colorado, and has a traveling team that competes in several tournaments outside of Colorado each year. Steve Williams will be coaching the “Early Development Camps” and “Team Colorado” in cooperation with USTA Colorado coaches and other tennis pros, and will be actively involved with player development of some of the top kids in the state.
Front Range Academy is described as the “end of the food chain” option for kids that want a competitive team and wish to play more tennis at the highest levels. Front Range Academy students are taught proper mechanics and proper footwork, and coaching myths are addressed. The Front Range Academy emphasizes live ball hitting, point play, and match play, and is described as an intense program for dedicated middle and high school tennis players with the message: “This is for the serious-minded tennis player. No time for horseplay. Work hard, have fun, reach your highest potential.” The program states that players do not need to travel to southern California, Texas, or Florida to play in a world class tennis academy.
Steve Williams leads Williams Tennis School and is described as dedicated to serving Northern Colorado. He was the head coach for the boys tennis team at Loveland High School from 2011 through 2014 and coached the men’s team at the University of Northern Colorado from 2008–2009. In the summer of 2012, he started as the Director of adidas Tennis Camps out of Colorado State University. Steve Williams is certified as a USPTA Pro (elite professional), is a USPTA P1 Elite Professional, holds a B.A. from the University of Kansas, and is certified as a High Performance Coach by the USTA and USPTA.
Steve Williams has been involved in several player development roles and competitive achievements. In 2012, he was chosen by the USTA Intermountain to coach the Intersectionals boys and girls 16’s team in Shreveport, Louisiana. For 2016 and 2017, he was selected by USTA Colorado as a player development coach.
