About
Williams Tennis School offers private lessons, group lessons, CARA programs, UTR events, tournaments, junior circuits, and weekly sanctioned competition. The program also runs the Front Range Academy (FRA) program, Loveland Tennis, and a traveling team that competes in several tournaments outside of Colorado. Players are taught proper mechanics, proper footwork patterns, shot selection, tactics, and mental skills, and Front Range Academy emphasizes live ball hitting, point play, and match play.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
Williams Tennis School offers programs and schedules to match all ages, abilities, and availability, with options for adults, 10 and under juniors, and anyone that is interested in the game. Loveland Tennis is offered for 4–14 year olds, with red ball for 4–6 year olds, orange ball for 7–10 year olds, and green dot for 10–14 year olds. Front Range Academy is described as an intense program for dedicated middle and high school tennis players and serves as the “end of the food chain” option for kids who want a competitive team and wish to play more tennis at the highest levels. The stated mission is to have two primary goals every time a tennis player is taught or coached: have fun and improve. The program is dedicated to serving Northern Colorado and states that it is hoping to start a new tennis boom in Loveland and create a tennis culture in the community.
Steve Williams leads the program with credentials that include USPTA P1, Elite Professional, and a B.A. from the University of Kansas, and he is certified as a USPTA Pro (elite professional) and as a High Performance Coach by the USTA and USPTA. His leadership background includes serving as Head Coach for the boys tennis team at Loveland High School from 2011 through 2014, coaching the men’s team at the University of Northern Colorado from 2008–2009, and working as Director of adidas Tennis Camps out of Colorado State University starting in the summer of 2012. In 2012, he was chosen by the USTA Intermountain to coach the Intersectionals boys and girls 16’s team in Shreveport, Louisiana; for 2016 and 2017, he was selected by USTA Colorado as a player development coach. His playing record includes being a top-10 player in Colorado singles at the championship level, finishing 2013 ranked #2 in open doubles in Colorado, and finishing 2016 ranked #1 in Colorado in Men’s 35 doubles with his partner Miikka Keronen. In the spring of 2022, Williams Tennis School, LLC was hired on to be the Pro (concessionaire) for the City of Loveland, Colorado.
