Campers cook their own meals on camp stoves and sleep in tents as part of the expedition experience.

Avid4 Instructors are all 18 and older with safety and skills training, and the leadership team includes founder David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that at Avid4 Adventure kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking, and that the organization was born out of a desire to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to ensure the future caretaking of the planet. The organization is accredited by the American Camp Association, is a Certified B Corp, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The program is described as a weeklong multi-sport expedition with a different adventure every day, with programs that evolve with campers from age 3 through their first summer job. The Avid4 Adventure Guarantee states that if promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free. Testimonials from parents in September 2023 report that campers learned new outdoor skills, including learning to ride a bike without training wheels, and that their children were eager to share what they learned each day and looked forward to returning the following year.
