Chargers Soccer Club was formed through a merger of long-standing clubs from the 1970s, including Clearwater Chargers Soccer (which included the former Countryside Lightning Soccer Club) and Fusion Futbol Club (formerly Black Watch Soccer Club and New Tampa Soccer Association). The club includes over 3,800 players, including 90 competitive teams, and three recreational programs with approximately 2,500 participants, supported by more than 100 coaches across three campuses. The logo features three stars that symbolize three national championships: the 1985 U18/19 Girls title won by Fusion FC and two U-19 Boys James P. McGuire Cup victories in 1995 and 1997 by the Clearwater Chargers, and the club is recognized as one of Florida’s most respected and historic clubs and as a nationally recognized leader in youth soccer as part of its stated dedication and vision. Chargers Soccer Club has been featured by the FIFA Training Centre in its Global Grassroots Spotlight and serves players from six Bay Area counties.
The program is led by an experienced technical staff that provides expert coaching and is described as a coaching staff committed to the highest standards.
