In 1953, land was purchased and the vision of Camp Kulaqua began. Camp Kulaqua’s mission is to serve the constituents of the Florida Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists with a friendly and quality camping and retreat facility that sets an atmosphere allowing for the Holy Spirit to touch as many lives as possible, and secondarily to use Camp Kulaqua as an outreach to non-members who can abide by the policies of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and the principles of Christianity, with all to be to the honor and glory of God. The Retreat and Conference Center has grown into one of the largest Seventh-day Adventist camps in the world and is a favorite destination for Florida Conference churches and events. It also serves many other Christian groups of different denominations, schools and field trips, universities and community programs, as well as other not-for-profit organizations.
