About

The Immokalee Foundation Youth Programs include specific activities such as high school reading tutors, once-a-week mentors, etiquette dinners, networking events, and the Immokalee Readers Program. Students participate in internships with organizations such as Physicians Regional Healthcare System and Legal Aid Service of Collier County, and take part in the Business Management & Entrepreneurship Pathway Camp at FGCU and the annual Shark-Tank-style event called “What’s Your Pitch.” In the Engineering & Construction Management Pathway, a team built the very first house at The Learning Lab, including digging the foundation, installing and leak testing the windows, and planting the landscaping.

Founded in 1991, The Immokalee Foundation and its supporters state that they are empowering children and young adults to change the course of their lives. The programs include preparation in elementary school through Immokalee Readers, career exploration in middle school, career immersion in high school, and career success scholarships. The Immokalee Foundation reports that 100% of its students graduate from high school compared to 88% in Florida overall, 100% of graduates are placed in postsecondary education at universities, colleges or technical programs, 96% hold in-demand postsecondary degrees and certifications, and 97% of elementary students make academic gains. The organization states that all Immokalee youth who are motivated to pursue an education and a satisfying career that offers financial independence will have access to tools, opportunities, support, and encouragement needed for them to succeed, and that it is building pathways to success so students are better prepared for life’s journey.

The Immokalee Foundation reports community involvement with Physicians Regional Healthcare System, Legal Aid Service of Collier County, Business Management & Entrepreneurship Pathway Camp at FGCU, individual donors, corporate sponsors, volunteers who assist in offices or serve in an advisory capacity, and mentors, donors, and volunteers supporting The Immokalee Foundation. The organization holds a Charity Navigator 4-Star Rating and a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency. The Immokalee Foundation states that it has an open door policy for reporting concerns and whistleblower protections, and that reports of violations or suspected violations may be submitted on a confidential basis.
