About
The Immokalee Foundation Youth Programs include activities such as high school reading tutors, once-a-week mentors, etiquette dinners, networking events, and the Immokalee Readers Program. Students can take part in career-focused options like the Engineering & Construction Management Pathway, the Business Management & Entrepreneurship Pathway Camp at FGCU, and the annual Shark-Tank-style event called “What’s Your Pitch—The Immokalee Foundation's annual Shark-Tank-style event.” The programs also include career exploration in middle school, career immersion in high school, and career success scholarships.
Founded in 1991, The Immokalee Foundation Youth Programs are part of an organization whose mission statement describes empowering children and young adults with educational and career-building opportunities, with support from mentors, donors, and volunteers. The mission statement also includes a vision that all Immokalee youth who are motivated to pursue an education and a satisfying career with financial independence will have access to tools, opportunities, support, and encouragement.
The programs have received a Charity Navigator 4-Star Rating and a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency. Community involvement includes partnerships and support from Physicians Regional Healthcare System, Legal Aid Service of Collier County, FGCU, individual donors, corporate sponsors, volunteers who assist in offices or serve in an advisory capacity, and mentors, donors, and volunteers supporting students.
Program data report that 100% of students graduate from high school compared to 88% in Florida overall, 100% of graduates are placed in postsecondary education at universities, colleges or technical programs, 96% hold in-demand postsecondary degrees and certifications, and 97% of elementary students make academic gains. The programs include preparation in elementary school through Immokalee Readers, career exploration in middle school, career immersion in high school, career success scholarships, and the annual Shark-Tank-style event called What’s Your Pitch.
