Children’s Art Classes was established in 1997 and has expanded to over a dozen locations, bringing its curriculum in more than 40 areas of art to thousands of children across the country. The program has been serving the Jacksonville community since 2009. All teachers are CAC trained. The mission of Children’s Art Classes is to provide a comprehensive art education program that enriches lives, raises self-esteem, and improves the academic performance of its students. Many honor students have graduated from the programs, several have earned art scholarships, many have participated in leading art shows, and students develop their art skills, receive art scholarships, or pursue higher education in art. The program reports that 99 percent of its students are accepted to La Villa School of the Arts, 100 percent of them graduate with a high school diploma, and it has a 100% graduation rate. According to the program, kids enrolled in Children’s Art Classes become more engaged at school, see improved grades and school performance, gain self-confidence, achieve recognition for their hard work, join a community, develop friendships, feel comfortable in themselves, and use classes as a therapeutic outlet for emotions and difficult life challenges. The program states that it promotes art for life, providing students an outlet for future art business ownership or careers.

Testimonials from parents describe students building portfolios over multiple years, gaining confidence and creativity, and attending art school, as well as experiencing a range of projects such as clay, pencil, and pastels. Parents also describe instruction in the fundamentals of art, knowledgeable teachers including founder Barbara Gay, and an end-of-year art show where students display their work. Children’s Art Classes has been named Art Classes Provider of the Year by Education Insider and has been named among the top franchises in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 ranking.
