Academic camps at Park Maitland Summer Camp focus on specific subjects such as math, literature, and creative writing, with campers working independently and in small groups to apply real-life experiences to lessons learned in the classroom. Specialty camps are described as being packed with hands-on activities that offer experiences for campers to discover new skills and talents. Sports camps promote skill building, expose children to new activities, and help build healthy exercise habits, with sports specialists from around the area helping each camper improve, practice, and play each sport. The camp offers a mix of indoor and outdoor adventures, and special guests and on-campus events are included. The camp is described as supporting each child's unique strengths and interests and helping them feel brave and ready to try new things, with caring camp staff members setting a positive example and creating a warm and friendly place where every child feels welcome and supported. Counselors receive extensive programming and health and safety training.
Park Maitland School, which runs the camp, was founded in 1968 by Mrs. Nell Cohen as a private school in Maitland, Florida, rooted in academic excellence and a deep love and respect for each child. Park Maitland School provides daycare, preschool, elementary, and middle school education, as well as extended day programs and summer camp, for families living in the greater Orlando area, and has locations in the Orlando suburbs of Winter Park and Maitland.
