Leyva Gymnastics Academy offers recreational gymnastics for boys and girls, girls team gymnastics, and a Competitive Day Program. The program also includes TOPs, Hopes and Elite program training, preschool gymnastics for boys and girls, recreational homeschool classes, adult classes, and parties.

Leyva Gymnastics Academy is led by founders and coaches Jeanne Barrera and Maria Gonzalez, who have over 30 years of experience training athletes of all levels. Jeanne Barrera holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Fitness Studies from Florida International University and is a Development National Team Coach. Maria Gonzalez holds a Master’s degree in Sports, specializing in gymnastics, from ISCF Manuel Fajarado, was a member of the Cuban National Team for four years, and began her coaching career as a Professor of Gymnastics at the University of Matanzas in Cuba. Maria Gonzalez became the Head Coach of the Girls Team at an area gym in 1995 and remained in that position until 2017, when she left to start Leyva Gymnastics Academy.
The academy’s mission states that it is committed to giving athletes and families a safe and friendly environment, with safety-certified coaches who provide an enjoyable learning experience that caters to each athlete’s individual needs, and to motivating athletes from beginners to professionals and from preschool age to national team members to reach their highest potential, with the belief in “Chasing Dreams and Building Champions.” All equipment is selected in accordance with USA Gymnastics standards and maintained regularly, and the academy is inspired by two-time Olympian and three-time Olympic medalist Danell Leyva. Maria Gonzalez repeatedly placed first in many competitions within Cuba as well as for her vault performance at the Pan-American Games, was a competitor and finalist at the international level in Poland, Germany and Hungary Olympic Hopeful Games, and has coached girls at the national and international level at competitions such as World Cups, World Championships and the Olympics.
Leyva Gymnastics Academy states that it loves being involved in the community and holds a variety of food, clothing and toy drives throughout the year, encouraging its athletes to take part in making the surrounding community a better place.
