• Ages: 5–18 years old
USA Tae Kwon Do School has been open for over 30 years and serves families and children in Miami, Kendall, and the Hammocks area. The leadership team includes Grand Master Joong Keun Suh and Master John Suh, and all martial arts instructors are trained to tailor teaching methods to fit the individual child with emphasis on encouragement and positive correction. The school’s mission states that its focus is on physical fitness, character development, and self defense, rather than fighting, with an overarching goal of building students’ self-esteem. The school welcomes all ages and levels to be part of its Taekwondo community and encourages families to train together, with programs for students of all ages and additional goals for adults that include improved muscle tone, increased cardiovascular fitness, lower stress levels, increased energy, and greater flexibility. Self defense is emphasized and is tempered with training on how to seek alternatives to conflict.
Grand Master Joong Keun Suh is a 9th Degree Black Belt WTF Kukkiwon and has served in roles such as Coach for the U.S. Olympic Team in Barcelona in 1992, World Cup Head Coach for the U.S. National Tae Kwon Do Team in Cairo in 1997, and President of the Florida State Tae Kwon Do Association from 1989 to 1992. His awards and recognitions include being named 1991 U.S. National Tae Kwon Do Coach of the Year, receiving an Award of Recognition from the Cabinet Minister of Cultural Exchange of Korea at the 1999 World Korean Festival in Seoul, and having May 23 proclaimed as Tae Kwon Do Day in his honor by the Mayor of Tallahassee, Florida. He is also a member of the Korean National Demonstration Team and a two-time Korean National Gold Medalist, as well as the 2008 World Tae Kwon Do Hanmadang Poomsae Forms Champion and 2008 Foot Breaking Bronze Medalist. Master John Suh is a 6th Dan Black Belt World Taekwondo Kukkiwon and a member of the 2024 US National Team.
Instructors at USA Tae Kwon Do School are required to maintain their personal level of martial arts knowledge and a high level of personal growth, take classes on a regular basis, and test at least once per year. Equipment and surfaces throughout the school are sanitized daily and thoroughly. One testimonial on record states, “Thanks for visiting. We’d love to have you as a student at USA Tae Kwon Do School. Please review the information on this site and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us. I look forward to hearing from you.”
