About

Youth Programs are described as enriching and fun afterschool and summer programs that connect students to the world around them. Children and youth programming staff are able to support families in several languages, and several programs and services are offered in languages other than English, including Spanish and Haitian Creole in specified programs.

YWCA South Florida’s Youth Programs are part of a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that offers programs and services in economic empowerment, personal and family wellness, early education, and youth development. YWCA South Florida serves Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and provides additional programming at partner sites from Homestead up to Broward County, as well as virtually. YWCA South Florida offers Court Care & KidSpace providing childcare in South Florida courthouses. The organization’s mission is described as eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all, and its philosophy centers on providing the skills and confidence needed to succeed. YWCA South Florida’s local programs and services have furthered the YWCA vision since 1914, and YWCA is described as the oldest and largest women’s movement, with key milestones including the first U.S. association in 1858, adoption of the Interracial Charter in 1946, opening membership and leadership to non-Christians in the 1960s, beginning the Direct Action Program in 1963, adopting The One Imperative in 1970, and changing the corporate name to YWCA USA, Inc. in 2015. YWCA South Florida is creating HER Miami, a platform that connects women to opportunity, community, and support, and community partners are described as critical to the success of its programs. The leadership team includes Kerry-Ann Royes (President & CEO), Veronica Brown (Chief Operating Officer), and Angeline Evans (Chief Impact Officer), with Stacy-Ann Smith serving as Chair of the Board of Directors, Nikki Packer as Vice Chair, Jackie Bravo as Treasurer, and Barbara Martinez as Secretary. The 2024–2025 Board of Directors includes Diane Amado-Tate, Glenn Davis, Vania Laguerre, Rosy Lopez, Rodrick Miller, Mildred Riscigno, Ceci Rivas-Gonzalez, and Mayela Rojas Sanchez, and the Emeritus Board includes Adriene McCoy, Kelly-Ann Cartwright, Caroline Iovino, Lisa Shim, Angela Deggs, Vernita Nelson, Honorable Carroll J. Kelly, and Robbie Bell.
