Afterschool & Summer Youth Programs are part of YWCA South Florida’s youth development work and are described as enriching and fun programs that connect students to the world around them. These programs are offered during the afterschool year and summer months and are included among YWCA South Florida’s afterschool and teen programs on various school sites throughout Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Additional programming connected to these youth programs is also provided at partner sites from Homestead up to Broward County, as well as virtually.

YWCA South Florida’s Afterschool & Summer Youth Programs are part of a broader nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has furthered the YWCA vision locally since 1914. The programs operate within an organization whose mission is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. YWCA South Florida offers programs and services in economic empowerment, personal and family wellness, early education, and youth development, and seeks to eliminate barriers that disproportionately affect women and people of color. The organization describes community partners as critical to the success of its programs, including those offered for youth. YWCA South Florida is described as the oldest and largest women’s movement providing services for women and their families in the community, and its philosophy centers on providing the skills and confidence needed to succeed, in line with its mission to empower women and families.
