About
STARability Foundation Programs include vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement, and community involvement. Participants take part in community workshops, sports leagues, social events, recreational programs, life skills programs, art programs, and a seasonal baseball league. The programs also offer virtual opportunities, including virtual programs, classes, activities, and workshops that participants can join from anywhere.

STARability Foundation was formed in 1983 as the Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled (FDD) and changed its name to STARability Foundation in 2018. Between 2009 and 2013, it added a variety of social events and recreational programs, including starting a seasonal baseball league in 2013. The Trailblazer Academy, launched in 2016, is a structured community-based program focused on community engagement, vocational training, and continuing education, and the Jr. Trailblazer Academy, launched in 2017, serves individuals between the ages of 14 and 21 transitioning into young adulthood. In 2019, the STAR Store & Studio opened and the vocational services program started, and in 2020 the organization shifted program delivery to virtual platforms, which are now an integral part of its offerings. In 2022, the organization moved into new administrative and program space on Goodlette-Frank Rd. The mission of STARability Foundation is to transform the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its programs focus on social, vocational, and educational community connections, and participants engage with community workshops, sports leagues, virtual opportunities, and other community-based activities. The organization has received a Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (GuideStar) and a Four-Star rating from Charity Navigator.
