About
YMCA of Collier County Youth Programs (Swim, Sports, Camps, and Early Learning) offers youth swim and sports activities, along with camp programs that include both specialty camp programs and day camp programs. The programs also include Early Learning Centers filled with staff who understand child development. Swim, sports, and recreational programs are designed for youth to form healthy exercise habits and build confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork, and the camp options include all kinds of camp programs from specialty to day camps.
The YMCA of Collier County operates under the mission “To put Judeo Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.” The organization has been serving Collier County since 1967, and the Marco Y was founded on November 14, 1977. More than 50 years ago, the Y was founded by a group of individuals who wanted to improve the community, and for 40 years, the South Campus has been committed to helping children, families and communities reach their full potential. Fifty-three years later, thousands of volunteers and staff members have worked to address social needs and change lives. The leadership team includes Cindy Love-Abounader, President and CEO of the Marco Island YMCA. The YMCA of Collier County received a surprise grant from the Collier Community Foundation as part of $650,000 awarded to nonprofits.
The Y is a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community and works side-by-side with its community. It connects individuals, families, and communities with opportunities that strengthen spirit, mind, and body and has presence and partnerships to deliver positive change across Collier County. The Y inspires people to give back and support those in need, and Y volunteers and supporters remain at the heart of the organization. It is only through the support of volunteers and both public and private donors that the Y is able to serve more people and deliver on its cause to strengthen the community. Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Y is able to offer scholarships to individuals and families for YMCA membership and programs. The Collier Community Foundation awarded $650,000 in surprise grants to nonprofits, and the YMCA of Collier County was one of the recipients.
