Camp Gan Izzy / Jewish Camp of the Arts offers intense sports games, creative crafts, mad science experiments, junior chef experiences, art, sports, music and movement, swimming, clay creations, canvas art, scrapbooking, a beauty spa, creative arts, giant gaming, and weekly trips. Campers visit places such as Sailfish Splash Park, Cock-a-Doodle-Doo Petting Zoo, Picasso’s Studio, Slime Factory, Urban Adventures, Mini-Golf, and Under Blue Waters as part of the program.
Camp Gan Izzy / Jewish Camp of the Arts is a faith-based Jewish camp led by JCA Camp Director Leib Ezagui, who has years of camping experience as a counselor, head counselor, and director. All staff come with prior camp experience and a desire to work with kids, and the camp hires counselors and staff members who are experienced, responsible, and caring. Each elective is run by a professional instructor, and many staff members return year after year, providing continuity to the programs. The camp’s mission statement notes that it prides itself on its staff, with Leib Ezagui focusing on creating a nurturing environment to bring out the best in staff and children, and counselors who are described as warm, personal, and known for their ability to care for each child as an individual while serving as role models. Thanks to generous donors, Camp Gan Izzy has created a children’s scholarship fund for children who would not normally be able to afford to attend summer camp.
