About
Programs for Kids at Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens take place within a museum that includes a bigger classroom, more exhibition space, dedicated meeting and office areas, and a rooftop terrace overlooking 2.5-acre gardens. The surrounding gardens feature a picturesque waterfall, a Free Little Art Gallery, a historic cottage, a small turtle sanctuary, butterfly observation zones, and a gazebo with a painted floor labyrinth for walking meditations, along with two original sculptures honoring veterans of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
• Schedule: Museum open 10:00am–4:00pm Monday–Saturday and 12:00pm–4:00pm Sunday; gardens open from sunrise to sunset every day
• Price: $8 general admission; $5 for seniors (65+), college students, and military with ID; $3 for youth ages 6 to 17; free for current OMAM members, U.S. veterans, and children ages 5 and younger.
Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens was founded in 1946 and re-opened its museum building in May 2022 after an 18-month, 4-million-dollar renovation and expansion project. Its stated mission is “Inspiring our community through art and nature while honoring those who fought for freedom.” Inside, the museum houses a bronze plaque listing all Ormond Beach residents who served in World War II, and a plaque listing three local residents who gave their lives in World War I is mounted near the American flag pole inside the Granada Pavilion Courtyard. The museum features Dr. John Wilton's 34-piece contemporary mixed media series in the stairwell gallery and a rotating selection of spiritual oil paintings from the Malcolm Fraser Permanent Collection in the reception gallery.
OMAM participates in the Museums for All program, offering free admission to visitors receiving SNAP benefits who present an EBT card and photo ID, and is recognized as a Blue Star Museum, offering free admission to current U.S. military personnel and their families from Armed Forces Day through Labor Day. OMAM also engages with the community through free art pop-ups and other outreach events, including programs for underserved children, families, veterans, and patients, caregivers, and survivors. Reciprocal admission privileges are available to visitors with current memberships at other NARM or AHS institutions. Free parking is available in a lot at the south end of the gardens and on the street along both sides of Halifax Drive, and a Votran bus stop is located near the museum’s north entrance along Granada Boulevard just west of Seton Trail.
