• Ages: 2–18 years old
Star Academy of the Performing Arts began in 2019. In 2021, it grew to its own building with a dance room, aerial room, and piano room, and in 2022, an additional large dance room of almost 1000 square feet was added. The owner and director, Caitlyn Cobb, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with a Minor in Ballet from the University of South Florida, performed with the USF Sundolls Dance Team for two years as Technique Captain and Social Media Manager, trained with All American Classical Ballet School from 2011–2013, and has performed dance and aerial acts throughout the country as well as appearing in local commercials for MOR TV and Moreno Bakery. Star Academy states that it believes in providing exceptional training in a fun and positive environment, is dedicated to fostering individual growth as a family-oriented studio, and focuses on giving students an appreciation for the performing arts while helping them develop self-discipline, confidence, self-esteem, and discipline. The studio notes that it typically has approximately 250 students at a time and focuses on building self-confidence and friendships to last a lifetime.
Star Academy actively gives back to the community through volunteer work with the Pace Center for Girls. In 2023, Caitlyn founded Star Community Arts, a non-profit initiative aimed at bringing the performing arts to those who might not otherwise have access, and seven families received scholarships due to family hardships.
The studio has received the Studio Spirit Award at Dupree Dance Convention in December 2023 for showing the most kindness, support, and punctuality, and the Eminence Award at Dupree Dance Convention in January 2025 for being the most Versatile Studio. It has been a Manatee Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Finalist in 2023 and 2024, and Caitlyn received the Manatee Young Professionals 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Business Observer’s 40 under 40 Award in 2024. Star Academy has been a Bradenton’s Best Winner in 2022, 2023, and 2024 for Best Birthday Parties, Best Dance Studio, and Summer Camps, and has multiple scholarship award winners at various conventions and competitions, along with multiple overall placements and additional special awards at dance competitions. The studio describes itself as offering exquisite training in a family-friendly environment, with classes for all levels from ages 2 through adult, and as an award-winning studio on the stage and in the community.
