National Flight Academy gives students a chance to take part in Real Life Flight Planning & Simulation. The program includes hands-on flight simulations that mirror real-world scenarios, using the latest in flight simulation technology and programs based on real-world Naval Aviation missions. Activities place a strong focus on critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills.

National Flight Academy describes its mission as an immersive and transformative STEM learning experience aboard a state-of-the-art aircraft carrier simulator. The program takes place on AMBITION CVT-11, a four-story, 102,000 sq. ft simulated aircraft carrier that is staffed with aviation experts and equipped with the latest in flight simulation technology. The venue is ADA accessible and compliant and has 24-hour security and on-site patrol. The organization is recognized as a NORTHWEST FLORIDA STEM CENTER OF EXCELLENCE and is ACA accredited. The leadership team includes Pat Everly, Executive Director; Mike Harbison, Deputy Director / Operations; Stephanie Pugh, Client Relations Director; Derek Steward, Curriculum and Training Manager; and Rob Garza, Program Manager. Together with its partners, National Flight Academy provides programs based on real-world Naval Aviation missions for students, adults, and corporate teams to explore the power of STEM.
Parents and students have shared several testimonials about the program. One 2022 AXP participant described it as “a very structured and informative experience that developed a strong background in my STEM knowledge” and highlighted “the feeling of having a team around me to support me even when we failed.” A 2024 AXP testimonial stated that the program “helped expose her to women in STEM, boosted her confidence as a first-generation college student.” A 2023 AXP participant thanked “the staff, mentors, and guest speakers” for teaching “so much about aviation, STEM, leadership and the importance of hard work, dedication, and being ready when an opportunity arises.” Parents of a 2025 AXP participant said, “It totally changed the course of her life; she attended 3 years in a row. After her first time she came home saying she wanted to attend the Naval Academy. NFA gave her the interest, confidence, and enthusiasm to pursue her goals.” Another 2023 AXP participant reported being “extremely satisfied with the intense but rewarding schedule, opportunity for leadership, and to meet people from around the world.”
