Since 1992, Sunshine Child Programs has passed all licensing inspections and follows guidelines for staff screenings, with no employee starting until cleared by all background screenings through the State of Florida and Broward County. Staff undergo Level 2 FBI background checks and are trained in CPR/First Aid, child abuse prevention, and water safety, and staff are college-aged, background-cleared, and must complete 45 hours of state-mandated childcare training. All full-time staff are required to take 45 hours of child development coursework and receive certification for a CDA. The mission of Sunshine Child Programs is to have highly trained, professional staff who are cheerful, responsive, and nurturing and to create an environment where staff stay motivated to continually create a positive and successful learning environment for the children in their care.

In partnership with the Broward School Board and Victory for Youth Services, meals are provided at most locations. Sunshine Child Programs accepts ELC and CSC grants. Recreational camp programs are offered on all teacher planning days, select holidays, winter break, spring break, and all summer long. Sunshine is described as the highest rated after school care program in Broward County.

Parent and caregiver testimonials describe positive experiences with Sunshine Aftercare and camp at several elementary schools, including Colbert Elementary, Fairway Elementary, Sea Castle Elementary, and Broadview Elementary. Families report that children participated in planned daily activities, field trips, and parties during spring break, including trips to the movies and bowling, and mention staff members by name, such as Mr. Malik and Ms. StacyAnn Lyons, in their comments. Several testimonials mention that children look forward to attending spring and summer programs and that caregivers appreciate the staff’s communication and interactions with the children.
