About
Gator Wilderness Camp School includes activities such as a multiple day canoe trip through the Everglades and the drafting of a new tent design to be built in the campsite. The program is a year around camping program designed specifically to serve adolescent boys from the ages of 11–15 years old. Campers are taught daily tasks such as making their bed and cleaning their living structure and campsite.
• Ages: 11–15 years old
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm
Gator Wilderness Camp School is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to sharing Christ’s unconditional love with families and their sons. The program is designed for boys who are significantly struggling to interpret a myriad of issues in their families, schools, and communities. Campers are challenged to grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ, parents, peers, and others. The structure at camp provides the framework for teaching the right way in contrast to the wrong way of living, and many of the structures around camp concern the preservation and care of natural surroundings.
Groups at camp are required to develop long and short term goals in conjunction with their treatment plans. Each week the group discusses and writes out a very specific set of plans and short term goals based upon the group’s needs for the coming week. At the conclusion of each day the group evaluates the successes and struggles of the day. The staff team places a high priority on partnering with campers to develop the desire to believe he can experience success and satisfaction in relationships and to develop the skill set to achieve these hopes and dreams. The program uses trained group counselors, who live with the group 24 hours. Gator Wilderness Camp School describes its community involvement as “SHARING THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITH BOYS & FAMILIES IN SOUTHWEST FLORIDA.”
