Handwriting Solutions offers individualized, one-on-one handwriting tutoring through a virtual one-on-one method. The program provides targeted handwriting assessment, handwriting tutoring sessions, reading tutoring, spelling tutoring, early learning tutoring sessions, and handwriting and fine motor games. Families can also access webinars and workshops through Handwriting Solutions.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
Handwriting Solutions states that its mission is to help children become capable and confident in expressing their thoughts in writing. The program uses certified virtual tutors who are highly qualified and trained with backgrounds in occupational therapy and education and who use evidence and research-based remediation techniques. Tutors act as educational consultants and provide individualized, strengths-based, and holistic instruction using proven strategies in a creative yet rigorous way.
The program offers a thorough handwriting assessment with a written report and follow-up interview. These assessments are not for diagnostic purposes but are used for development of individualized treatment intervention to support literacy success, and reports can be provided to a diagnostician or pediatrician to aid in determination of a diagnosis. Handwriting Solutions does not provide occupational therapy services but will provide a referral if more intensive, skilled services are needed. Services are available from kindergarten to high school.
Handwriting Solutions is led by founder and Handwriting Assessment Specialist Kelli Fetter and Consultant and Literacy Assessment Specialist Briegel Payne. Kelli Fetter is a Certified Handwriting Specialist and has practiced occupational therapy for over 10 years, with experience in pediatrics and specific training in learning disorders and curriculums such as Handwriting Without Tears, Size Matters Program, and Because Neatness Matters. Handwriting Solutions is an approved provider for Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle.
The program is involved in several community and professional organizations. Through The Handwriting Collaborative, founder Kelli Fetter serves as a board member for a nonprofit that provides resources, connections, professional learning opportunities, and collaborations to amplify handwriting and literacy skills. Handwriting Solutions is an approved provider for Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle, where Kelli Fetter also serves on the board, working with a group of educators, professionals, service providers, parents, and community members serving the Emerald Coast and supporting families living with neurodiversity. Handwriting Solutions partners with DyslexiaRx to serve families with children with dyslexia and with Inclusiveology to serve schools in promoting inclusion practices in educational settings.
