The program describes its approach as using adventure, creativity, community, immersive experiences, meaningful traditions, and joyful connection so that campers do not just attend camp but belong. The camp also offers a Spring Mini-Camp for K–6.
The camp notes that it is rooted in Jewish values and open to all, and that the Israeli Scouts create a living bridge between Sarasota and Israel every summer. It expresses gratitude to members, guests, camper families, volunteers, and staff who have recognized the importance of camp and child growth.
Parent testimonials report that children loved Camp Yonnie, talked about it all summer, and asked to return. One parent shared that their child preferred Camp Yonnie over visiting family in New York, seeing a Broadway play, or going to Disney World. Other parents commented that their kids felt safe and happy, that counselors and staff were amazing, and that projects and activities were varied, with children feeling welcomed, included, and special.
