About
Sarasota Youth Opera Summer Camp includes activities in singing, acting, and physical comedy. Campers work with sets, props, wigs, make-up, and costumes, and they take part in opera appreciation and opera production. The program includes both performing on a stage and working behind the scenes.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekday sessions; ages 8 to 10 attend from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM June 8–19, and ages 11 to 18 attend from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM June 8–26; early drop off and late pick up options are available.
• Price: Ages 8 to 10, June 8–19: $350; ages 11 to 18, June 8–26: $525; early drop off is $25 per week, late pick up is $25 per week, and combined early drop off and late pick up is $40 per week.
The camp is under the direction of Sarasota Opera’s professional artistic and production staff, and sessions are led by industry artists, directors, musicians, and technicians. Sarasota Opera’s mission is to produce impassioned opera performances true to the vision of the composer, to entertain, enrich, educate, and inspire a life-long love of opera in diverse and growing communities. The organization states that it will represent and serve all who live, visit, and work in its region.
