The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA was founded based on the core character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, and its focus areas include Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The organization states that today the YMCA is the largest and oldest service organization in America, and the first YMCA facility in Tampa, built in 1889, brought the city its first gymnasium and indoor swimming pool. The Tampa Y is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization, and its mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Y is committed to global diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. Tampa YMCA members have unlimited access to all 10 family centers and three wellness centers, exclusive access to youth and family programs at YMCA Camp Cristina and the Bob Sierra Youth and Family Center, and each family center has at least one pool, with some locations featuring multiple pools. All locations have new wellness equipment, and workouts can be planned with a Certified Personal Trainer at the Y. The Tampa YMCA offers an all-new Licensed Preschool for ages 2 to 5 years old at two family centers, group and private swim lessons and water exploration classes for ages 6 months through adult, and access to the YMCA360 mobile app with improved features and online group exercise classes. The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA also notes community support and a partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning as part of the “Patch With A Purpose” program, with the Cancer Survivorship Program Powered by Moffitt listed as an example of its community-focused offerings.
