• Ages: Newborn–7 years old for Kindermusik; 5–105 years old for string family instruction

Ocean Strings Studio & Kindermusik offers Kindermusik as an early childhood family involvement program with a focus on “whole child development” through music and movement and soulful discovery based music. Kindermusik class levels include FOUNDATIONS (0–12 months), LEVEL 1 (12–24 months), LEVEL 2 (2–3 years old), LEVEL 3 (3–5 years old), and MIXED LEVEL (1–5 years old). The studio provides an Ocean Strings Studio VIP member site, offers online lessons via the Forte Lessons platform, uses My Music Staff for financial accounts, and uses Tonara as a studio practice app. Event string ensembles are available as duo, trio, quartet, and custom ensembles, and the Ocean Youth Foundation is part of the program’s offerings.

Richard and Nicole Ballinger are performing string artists and educators on the Treasure Coast and have been dedicated to musical experiences for over 20 years. The leadership team includes Richard Ballinger (Violin/Viola), Nicole Ballinger (Violin/Viola), Sally Shorrock (Piano), Kyle Pearl (Cello/Bass/Violin/Viola), Miguel Bonachea (Guitar), Vivian Hunter (Vocal & Piano), Michelle Casey (Piano), and Dr. Aramis Ruiz-Ruiz (Cello, Bass). The mission statement for Ocean Strings Studio & Kindermusik is: “We welcome you to join our Ocean Strings Studio family where we will: S-T-R-I-N-G: SOUL-FULL Exploration, THRILL-ing Joy, RESONATE Authentically, INSPIRE to Excellence, NURTURE your ‘whole’ potential child AND: GROW and flourish as spectacular ‘waves’!” The program’s community involvement includes work as performing string artists and educators on the Treasure Coast.

One parent shared that their six-year-old son began on a large violin with his father and studied with Mr. Ballinger, describing his patience and caring style and noting that their son later performed with numerous local bands and traveled to England and across the United States playing various styles of music. Another family described that all five of their children now play strings, with a few majoring in music at universities, and that three have played with The National Youth Orchestra USA and performed at Carnegie Hall, crediting Richard Ballinger as their oldest son’s first violin teacher and describing him as patient and encouraging, especially with a child who has special needs.
