Atlanta Botanical Garden Classes & Education offers programs that take place among renowned plant collections, beautiful displays, and spectacular exhibitions. Families can experience the award-winning Children’s Garden, the serene Storza Woods with its unique Canopy Walk, and the picturesque Skyline Garden as part of the Garden’s education offerings. The program also includes special events and activities such as the Niki in the Garden exhibition with colorful sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle, Cocktails in the Garden with live entertainment, Shows for Seedlings with live performances from storytellers and others, and a Girl Scouts in the Garden event.

• Schedule: The Atlanta location is open Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–9 p.m. from May 8 to Sept. 7, and the Gainesville location is open March 3–Oct. 1, Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Since the Garden opened its doors in 1976, it has developed classes and education programs within its 30 acres of outdoor gardens and related features. The Gainesville location, which opened in 2015, is home to the largest conservation nursery in the Southeast. The Garden’s stated mission is “To develop and maintain plant collections for the purposes of display, education, conservation, research and enjoyment.” Community involvement includes work on transforming nearly eight acres along Piedmont Avenue and the Beltline’s northeast corridor, and the Southeastern Center for Conservation advances the science of conservation through conservation genetics and evolutionary studies, demographic studies, and partnerships with researchers. The Children’s Garden is described as award-winning.
