Kidz In Step Dance & Gymnastics offers dance, gymnastics, and tumbling, along with private lessons, competitive teams, and Community Performance Teams. The program also includes classes, camps, and workshops for children and teens.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes begin Monday, August 17, with options Monday–Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings, offered in 6-week and 8-week commitment classes
Kidz In Step Dance & Gymnastics was founded by Jennifer Andrews-Smith in 2004 and is celebrating 23 years serving the community. The staff is made up of highly trained professionals, and each instructor takes her own workshops throughout the year to keep up with new styles, ideas, and curriculums. The program has small dance and gymnastics classes, award-winning competition teams, and offers private lessons for students to work on personal goals. Families can choose short commitment weekly classes with or without a Recital Showcase, and students can move between once-a-week classes, competitive programs, and Community Performance Teams. Kidz In Step holds an annual performance and a Spring Recital Showcase with age-appropriate music, costumes, and choreography, and has a Safer Studio™ Plan in place.
Kidz In Step is described as a community facility, not just for the selected, and has a KIS Member Center and careers opportunities listed. A desk assistant or manager is always available during class times, and email newsletters are distributed weekly and posted on a lobby parent info board. KIS serves the community and has given to nursing homes, homeless shelters, food pantries, Relay for Life, Traveling Tutus, and families within its own programs. Its mission states that it uses dance and gymnastics as a tool for teaching life lessons such as responsibility, hard work, and dedication, and that giving back and giving with a willing heart are important parts of its focus for students and families. Kidz In Step is noted as one of a few studios east of Atlanta to receive top awards that recognize studio instructors’ knowledge and ability and represent a way of doing business that places the children first.
