About
FFA Wildlife Camp is a week-long residential summer camp where participants take part in firearm safety and hunter safety classes. All programs and classes are taught by qualified instructors, and the instruction is hands-on and geared toward the age of the participants.
• Ages: 10–16 years old
• Schedule: Week-long residential sessions, with 2026 camp dates of July 5–9 for Basic Wildlife Camp and July 12–16 for Advanced Wildlife Camp
• Price: The cost of FFA Wildlife Camp is $420, which includes a non-refundable $100 deposit due upon completion of the registration application.
FFA Wildlife Camp is open to boys and girls and includes both a Basic Wildlife Camp for ages 10–15 centered on firearm and hunter safety and an Advanced Wildlife Camp for ages 11–16 for participants who have attended Basic Wildlife Camp or already have their Georgia Hunter Safety Certification. Participants receive their Georgia Hunter Safety Certification during their week of camp. The program has two primary stated goals: to increase safety, awareness, and appreciation of wildlife and outdoor sports among young boys and girls in a dynamic, hands-on environment, and to instill core character values such as integrity, respect, responsibility, and commitment. All programs and classes are taught by qualified instructors, and classes vary from year to year with instruction that covers more advanced concepts in the Advanced Wildlife Camp.
The leadership team for FFA Wildlife Camp includes Michael Herrin, Educational Program Specialist; Nelson McCracken, Director of Development and Leadership, FFA-FCCLA Centers; Russel Towns, Camp Manager; Debbie Pirtle, Office Manager; Hope Parker, Educational Program Specialist; Clair Jordan, Educational Program Specialist; Jesika Holloway, Agricultural Program Specialist; Amy Putnam, Reservations Coordinator; and Caroline Alexander, Logistics Coordinator. Informational documents available to families include a Wildlife Camp Packing List, Wildlife Camp Tentative Schedule, Wildlife Camp Policies, Wildlife Camp's Code of Conduct, Home Sickness Prevention, Wildlife Camp's Cell Phone Policy, Information on Social Cruelty (Bullying), and the Wildlife Camp Anti-Bullying Policy. Resources connected to the camp include an annual banquet, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship opportunities, and a Wildlife Camp promotional video. For 2026, Wildlife Camp registration opens January 7, 2026, and volunteer applications open in March 2026.
