Brains & Motion Education Summer Camps states that its mission is to spark kids’ curiosity, creativity, and love of learning by blending exciting STEAM adventures with sports and joyful outdoor movement, with a focus on holistic development that includes intellectual and physical growth in a fun, inclusive environment that brings out kids’ best. The program includes summer camps, before and after-school programs, guided recess, and other year-round supplemental enrichment that blend STEAM, sports, and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)-powered learning, with SEL woven into every activity and an emphasis on inclusivity, friendship, community, and a sense of belonging. Instructors and coaches undergo meticulous background checks and rigorous staff trainings, are heavily vetted, and are trained in their specific subject areas as well as child development and safety protocols, with extensive training and continuous professional development supported by an expertly-crafted curriculum and at-camp safety protocols. Brains & Motion reports over 1,100 school partners, tens of thousands of BAM! alumni, and partnerships with local Atlanta schools and community organizations, and notes that it is trusted by families and schools nationwide. The organization’s leadership team includes Bart Epstein (CEO), Frank Bonanno (CFO), Kristopher Kasper (COO), Rob Magliano (CRO), Jody Nova (VP of Product & Curriculum), Charissa Murphy (VP of Finance), Kirsten Tamura (Director of Talent Acquisition & Customer Service), Sarah Esquivel (Director of Sales Operations), Amanda Wright (Operations Director), Jessica De Arcos (Operations Director), Casie DiCenso (Director of Summer Camps), Mallory Davis (Director of Training & Development), and Trey Thompson (Director of Sales, West). Brains & Motion also notes that financial assistance is available in Illinois and that a scholarship application is available. Parent feedback shared by the program includes comments about counselors helping children adjust to a new camp, children wishing certain camps were longer because they had so much fun, increased communication at home about camp groups and coaches, and one parent describing the program as well rounded across the STEAM range with helpful and kind instructors.
