About
AVPRIDE Youth Programs focuses on youth development and leadership in the Fayette and Coweta communities. The program is guided by principles of self-awareness, confidence, advocacy, leadership, community engagement, and family support. Its stated commitment is to guide young minds to make sound decisions from kindergarten through college and beyond.
AVPRIDE’s mission is to empower youth to make informed and healthy decisions that result in resiliency and success as conscious, productive, and contributing societal leaders. The organization has worked in youth development and leadership for nearly 25 years, beginning with a group of Fayette County residents who came together in the fall of 1996 with a goal of empowering local children in a rapidly evolving global economy. AVPRIDE reports having served 5,240 youth over the last 25 years, with 24,300 instructional hours in its after-school enrichment program, 875 community service hours completed by its SAYA students, and more than 25 college scholarships awarded since 2002.
AVPRIDE is dedicated to inspiring youth in Coweta, Fayette, and Macon counties and partners with businesses, organizations, and agencies across Georgia to address key challenges identified through local research. Through these collaborations, the organization focuses on academic achievement, healthy behaviors, and expanded post-secondary opportunities, with an overall aim of working with the community to create resilient and thriving young people. The program’s stated dream is to empower every child to be a productive citizen both locally and globally.
