The mission of the Architecture Summer Academy describes it as a pre-college experience designed to provide high school students with an introduction to the world of architecture as a potential future career path, including learning about what it means to study architecture and design in college, being introduced to the process of design through an architectural project, engaging with the built environment in new ways, and learning skills needed to succeed in college or profession. Participants are introduced to historical aspects of architecture as the solid-state foundation of societies, engage in design theory and exercises, develop creative skills while gaining experience working collaboratively, and build meaningful connections with other students, professionals, and faculty members.
