The Henry Arts Alliance was established in 1991 by Dr. Edward Bridges as a not-for-profit organization to sponsor and encourage cultural and educational activities in Henry County and the Southern Crescent. The Arts Alliance’s mission is to improve the quality of life in these areas by creating awareness, stimulating interest, and encouraging local involvement in the arts. The Arts Alliance offers programs such as Summer Arts Camp, Fall Visual Arts Camp, Exploring the Arts Camp, Christmas with the Arts, The High School Art Contest, Fall Festival of Storytelling, Art In Unusual Places, and a High School Scholarship program in theater, music, and art.

The Arts Alliance states that its programs are open to the public and that it offers events free so that county residents are not excluded because of financial concerns. It offers scholarships to its Summer Performing Arts Camp and Visual Arts Camp for under-served youth and has a program that offers art and theater classes to physically and mentally handicapped young people, which began in the summer camps and is expanding to year-long classes. According to the organization, every penny received in grants and gifts goes directly into its programs, and its Board and many teachers volunteer their time and talent.

For HAA Summer Arts Camp, all campers must bring their own snack and water bottle. All registered campers are asked to download, print, and complete a health form and a liability form and bring them to camp at sign-in on the first day. A camper testimonial states, “Thank you for a great camp experience. We loved everything about this week!” Spaces are limited, and the program notes that families should register early.
