About
Code Ninjas offers activities such as building their own video games, debugging code, basic block coding, and game building. The program also includes programming in Minecraft and Roblox, robotics projects, AI-focused activities, and other STEM-based work. Sessions take place in a Dojo setting.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Class options Tuesday–Friday afternoons and Saturday daytime (3:00PM–7:00PM Tues–Fri; 9:30AM–3:00PM Sat)
Code Ninjas states its mission as: “We turn screen time into skill time — and coding is just the beginning. We’re developing the next generation of problem solvers, creators, and leaders.” The program has received the ISTE Seal of Approval. Code Ninjas describes itself as the world’s largest and fastest-growing kids' coding franchise, with hundreds of locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Code Ninjas uses a proprietary learning platform called IMPACT, where Ninjas get a tailored learning track through Belts in IMPACT and receive live feedback on their progress. The program includes Outcome-Based Learning with expert mentors and offers multi-week module Academies in areas such as robotics and AI. Additional features include the Code Ninjas Prodigy Program, Parent's Night Out events, and a setting described as a safe and inspiring environment.
Through the Code Ninjas Prodigy Program, winning Ninjas have an opportunity to visit Microsoft’s Headquarters in Seattle, WA, visit Microsoft’s Garage, and meet with the Microsoft Minecraft team and the Microsoft MakeCode team. The program also includes engagement with teams such as XBOX, Bing, and AI.
Parent testimonials describe children being excited to show what they made, enjoying Parent's Night Out, and being eager to sign up, including one parent who said, “15 minutes in and my son already coded his first game.” Parents mention that their children enjoy the Dojo, like the teachers, and talk about coding at home. One community member stated, “I have been blown away by the positive impact Code Ninjas has had on the children in our community. Not only are they learning valuable technical skills, but they are also developing important problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.”
