About
Code Ninjas offers hands-on coding where kids build their own video games, practice basic block coding, and work on debugging code. The program also includes programming in Minecraft and Roblox, robotics, AI, and interactive challenges that teach critical thinking.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Class options Tuesday–Friday afternoons and Saturday daytime
Code Ninjas states that its mission is: “We’re developing the next generation of problem solvers, creators, and leaders.” The program uses Outcome-Based Learning with clear learning goals and activities aligned to those goals, and its curriculum is developed with creation in mind so students can express their imagination and experiment with new ideas. Kids follow tailored learning tracks through “Belts” in IMPACT, the program’s proprietary learning platform, with self-paced, personalized learning supported by Code Senseis. Code Ninjas also offers the Prodigy Program, Code Ninjas Camps, and multi-week Academies in areas such as robotics and AI. Code Ninjas has received the ISTE Seal of Approval and is described as the world’s largest and fastest-growing kids’ coding franchise, with hundreds of locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
The leadership team includes Navin Gurnaney, CEO of Code Ninjas. The program states that it strives to have a positive relationship with the community by providing a safe and welcoming learning environment outside of school and by encouraging students to use coding skills to create apps or websites to solve local problems.
Parent feedback includes comments that children are excited to show what they made, enjoy events like Parent’s Night Out, and are eager to sign up for the program. Parents report that their children love the Dojo, enjoy the teachers, and like to teach coding concepts at home. One community member states being “blown away by the positive impact Code Ninjas has had on the children in our community,” noting that kids are learning technical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
