About
W.E. MOVE! Tutoring Group offers one-on-one tutoring, customized sessions, and monthly reporting for school-aged children who require additional assistance for academic challenge. The program also operates as a Summer Camp and provides innovative tutoring plans for prek-5th grade level youth based on each student’s individual learning style and personality.
• Ages: 4–11 years old
• Schedule: Spring, summer, and fall 2026 sessions
W.E. MOVE! Tutoring Group runs a Spring 2026 Session from January 5 to May 8, 2026, a Summer 2026 Session from June 1 to July 3, 2026, and a Fall 2026 Session from August 24 to December 4, 2026. Each student is assigned to two tutors, one for Mondays and Wednesdays and another for Tuesdays and Thursdays, and student tutoring sessions are customized to fit their learning style and academic needs. After registration, a parent meeting is scheduled to discuss student needs, challenges, and reports from teachers, counselors, and other professionals. Tutors complete a daily log at the end of each session with information on student response, academic successes, and challenges, and daily notes and an overview from the Director are composed monthly for parent review.
W.E. MOVE Tutoring Group is a nonprofit organization started by Georgia Southern staff member S. Marie Williams, who is the founder of W.E. MOVE Tutoring Group. The W.E. MOVE! Board and Director search and apply for grant funding to support staffing needs, material costs, and expansion efforts, and board members have supported W.E. MOVE! over the first 6 years of its existence. The organization’s mission states that it operates after school and as a Summer Camp, providing innovative tutoring plans for prek-5th grade level youth based on individual learning style and personality, and that its goal is to provide learning opportunities that incorporate the interest of each student and include an element of fun with each activity. The insurance policy for W.E. MOVE! is provided by NEXT.
Staff for the program include Kim Williams, a W.E. MOVE! Tutor and Georgia Southern Political Science major, and Ashley Mitchell, a Speech Pathologist. One testimonial from a parent, Tina Scheider, describes her son attending the Summer program for two years and refers to the teachers as amazing and working hard to teach children in their own individual styles, and states that her son gained confidence to overcome his learning disabilities. Another testimonial from tutor Kim Williams states that this was her first semester with the students and that she enjoyed every minute and valued helping and building students to perform at their greatest potential.
W.E. MOVE! reaches out to local businesses with the goal of one day acquiring support from every business in the ’Boro that has a heart for supporting K12 education. Partners, donors, family, and friends support local K12 students, prepare meals, install dry erase boards, wash the chalk wall, and table at events to let local parents know the program exists. The program has a stated goal to create scholarships for 25 students every semester (fall, spring, and summer), and partners help ensure permanent space, adequate furniture and technology for each student, and snacks.
