Shooting Sports Education Center Youth Programs and Summer Camps offers archery programs and firearms programs for youth, including summer camps in both areas. Participants can take beginner and advanced archery courses, join homeschool archery programs, and take part in archery competitions. The program also offers beginner firearms courses, special firearms activities, and firearms competitions, along with private archery and firearms lessons and USCCA firearms courses.
• Schedule: General operating hours are Monday–Friday 1 p.m.–9 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.–7 p.m., with Sunday closed; special spring 2026 hours include being open 1 p.m.–7 p.m. on MLK Day (Monday, Jan. 19) and closed for the SoCon Rifle Championships Friday, Feb. 6–Saturday, Feb. 7.
The Shooting Sports Education Center first opened on October 8, 2015. It provides educational, recreational, and competitive archery and firearms activities and hosts safety and training courses as well as regional and national competitions. Over one thousand people of all ages and skill levels participate each month. The center operates in partnership with the Wildlife Resources Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Easton Sports Development Foundation, and the Archery Trade Association, and it hosts events for local and national organizations, including groups such as Junior Rifle Club, Statesboro High School Rifle Team, Bulloch Academy NASP Archery, Bulloch Academy Shotgun Team, and Bulloch County 4-H Archery. Archery associations and governing bodies connected with its activities include the Georgia Archery Association, Georgia Bowhunters Archery Association, Scholastic 3D Archery, USA Archery, National Field Archery Association, Archery in Georgia, NASP – State of Georgia, Georgia Association Private & Parochial Schools, Georgia Independent School Association, and Georgia 4-H Archery. The center’s partners also include the City of Statesboro and Bulloch County Recreation and Parks, and it is home to award-winning shooting sports teams that represent Georgia Southern University across the country. Summer camps in archery and firearms are offered for both casual campers and competitive youth.
