About
Metropolis School of the Performing Arts offers private lessons and group programming in musical theatre, drama, voice, improvisation, dance, and instrumental music. Students can take part in vocal and dance auditions, rehearsals, and performances, as well as summer break camps that include half-day and full-day performing arts camps.
• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer break camps run June 8–August 14, 2026; rehearsals for one production run June 29–August 8 on Tuesdays–Fridays from 4:30–7:30 pm and Sundays from 1:30–4:30 pm, with callbacks on Sunday, May 17 from 1–4 pm by invitation, tech August 10–12 from 4–9 pm, and performances August 13–15 at set times
Metropolis School of the Performing Arts is a 2025 ITA award-winning performing arts school that enriches the lives of thousands of students ranging from toddlers to seniors and curates an arts curriculum for students of all ages and abilities, including those with special and different needs. Metropolis School of the Performing Arts received the Illinois Theatre Association’s 2025 Award of Excellence in Creative Drama/Theatre for Young Audiences, and Metropolis Performing Arts Centre has been awarded the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency. Metropolis faculty and staff have undergone safety training recommended by the Arlington Heights Police Department, and the program is led by Education Director Tiffany Gates. The school serves the northwest suburbs of Chicago, including Arlington Heights, Palatine, Mt. Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, Des Plaines, and more, and is supported by a grant. The program offers scholarships for all classes, lessons, camps, and workshops with applications open year-round, and past recipients are welcomed and encouraged to reapply. All new private students are eligible for a thirty minute trial lesson for a fee of $30 before committing to a weekly lesson time, and one excused absence every four months is eligible for a make-up lesson. By registering for instruction, permission is given to use photographs and/or video of programs and activities for promotion, information, and advertising, and students are never identified using first and last names without special permission. Audience Services and Box Office hours are 12:00 pm–4:00 pm Monday–Saturday, and on performance days the box office remains open through the start of the show.
