Metropolis School of the Performing Arts offers instruction in musical theatre, drama, voice, improvisation, dance, and instrumental music. The program includes both group classes and private lessons in these performing arts areas.

• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: Winter Break 2025 camps run December 29–31, 2025; Spring 2026 group classes and private lessons run January 12–May 22, 2026; Spring play auditions for “The Suspicious Butler” are January 30–31, 2026; Spring Break camps run March 23–27, 2026
• Price: All new private students are eligible for a thirty minute trial lesson for a fee of $30.

Metropolis School of the Performing Arts is a 2025 Illinois Theatre Association (ITA) award-winning performing arts school that offers an arts curriculum for students of all ages and abilities, including those with special and different needs. The school provides programming in multiple performing arts disciplines, including musical theatre, drama, voice, improvisation, dance, and instrumental music. Metropolis School of the Performing Arts received the Illinois Theatre Association’s 2025 Award of Excellence in Creative Drama/Theatre for Young Audiences, and Metropolis Performing Arts Centre has been awarded the Candid Gold Seal of Transparency. On August 9, 2025, Education Director Tiffany Gates, on behalf of Metropolis School of the Performing Arts, accepted the Illinois Theatre Association’s 2025 Award of Excellence in Creative Drama/Theatre for Young Audiences.

Metropolis School of the Performing Arts offers scholarships for all classes, lessons, camps, and workshops, with applications open year-round and past recipients encouraged to reapply. Digital gift cards for camps, classes, or workshops are available by calling 847.577.5982 x221 or emailing [email protected], and these digital gift cards are not valid for show tickets. All new private students are eligible for a thirty minute trial lesson for a fee of $30 prior to committing to a weekly lesson time.

Metropolis faculty and staff have undergone safety training recommended by the Arlington Heights Police Department. Metropolis School of the Performing Arts serves the northwest suburbs of Chicago, including Arlington Heights, Palatine, Mt. Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, and Des Plaines. Audience Services and Box Office hours are 12:00pm–4:00pm Monday–Saturday, and on performance days the box office remains open through the start of the show.

By registering for instruction, permission is given to Metropolis and its affiliates to use photographs and/or video of programs and activities that contain an image of the participant for the limited purposes of promotion, information, and advertising. Students will not be identified using first and last names without special permission. If a family prefers that a participant not be featured in any images or videos, a written request must be submitted to [email protected].
