It is affectionately known as The Players’ Club and is described as one of the best junior programs in the Chicagoland area, with kids’ classes at all levels from tiny tots to nationally ranked juniors. The center features 7 outdoor clay courts and 9 indoor hard courts, along with a fitness room with exercise equipment for stretching and warming up, mats, light weights, bands, and accessories, plus a whirlpool, sauna, and spacious locker rooms with showers. A pro shop offers tennis apparel, shoes, a wide variety of equipment, Wilson adult and junior tennis racquets with first stringing free, demo racquets for in-house use, and full racquet stringing services. The Players’ Lounge includes a glass-walled viewing area for show courts, comfortable seating, a refrigerator and wet bar, HD television with the Tennis Channel, and an outdoor patio with grilling amenities, and is described as the social hub of RTTC. The facility has state-of-the-art playing conditions with recent improvements to the ceiling and installation of LED lighting.

The founding partner and first General Manager, Nelson Campbell, was recognized by the Chicago District Patrons with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. The stated mission of River Trails Tennis Center is to foster an environment of learning, camaraderie and health through the game of tennis, and it has been spreading the love of tennis in Chicagoland since 1971.
