• Schedule: Class options on Mondays and Tuesdays in the late afternoon and evening, virtual classes on Wednesdays, and Saturday morning classes

In 2009, academy owners Parvathy Sree and Sangeetha Sundar opened an A Grade Ahead academy, and as of June 1, 2020, the Aurora and Naperville academies have been merged into one academy. They both have master’s degrees in business administration and finance and state that they believe education is the key to success and a bright future. They opened the academy in 2009 to help families in their community reach their education goals.

The program offers after-school enrichment classes in math and English both online and in person, with weekly classes where a lesson is taught each week. Math is offered from Kindergarten through High School, including numerical fluency, skills practice, and word problems. English is offered from Kindergarten through High School, including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. The Pre-K program for ages 4 and 5 includes number sense, counting, handwriting, and phonics. Classes use a curriculum that aligns with national standards, prepares for standardized testing, reinforces essential skills, promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and applies concepts to real-world problems. The curriculum uses a proprietary blended approach that combines traditional paper and pencil learning with AGA Online interactive exercises to reinforce weekly concepts. Class sizes are small, with no more than 8 students per teacher, to allow for individualized attention, and an assessment is used to determine each child’s strengths and areas of opportunity.

One teacher testimonial states that the curriculum is “top-notch, hitting all state standards,” that it “spirals each year so the children can revisit topics in greater depth,” and that “the emphasis is on applying concepts and the material is truly a grade ahead.” Another teacher notes that lessons are premade and easy to follow and that the material “aligns very well with what is being taught at school.” Parent testimonials describe improvement in their children’s learning in math and English, including one parent who reports that a child “has excelled in his school grades” and another who notes that the program equips kids with “right tools and foundational skills” in ELA and math.
