Acharya Performing Arts Academy Dance Program

Acharya Performing Arts Academy Dance Program includes Indian classical dance in the Bharatanatyam style, semi-classical and folk dances, classical fusion dance workshops, and traditional and creative dance dramas and ballets. The program also offers Carnatic classical music classes that include Bhajans, Keerathan’s, Kruthis, Devaranamas, and light music and Bhajan workshops with karaoke music, along with western keyboard instruction classes using Indian songs. Additional activities include Light Dance, Music, storytelling, Shloka’s, Yoga, and a craft class.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes run at Aurora/Naperville and Schaumburg studios, with Acharya Performing Arts Academy holding classes Monday and Wednesday to Saturday and Prerna Academy of Performing Arts holding classes on Tuesdays; new Bharathanatyam dance classes for ages 6 and above begin September 15, 2025, new Carnatic music classes for ages 6 and above begin September 10, 2025, and a new Kalavihar program (Light Dance, Music, storytelling, Shloka’s, Yoga, and craft class) for ages 4 to 6 begins September 13, 2025

All Indian classical dance and music classes in this program are described as ideal for children from 3 1/2 years old to adults and are designed for students to learn particular dance and song items as well as classical dance and music techniques. All levels of students, from beginners to experienced, are welcome to join the academy. The program notes that it has a large community of dance and music graduates.
