He holds the rank of Sankyu (brown belt) in Judo under 7th Dan Sensei Doug Tono, is a United States Judo Federation member, and is a certified USA Judo Coach. He also holds the rank of Sankyu in Shotokan Karate under Sensei Juan Cuervo and a Kru Certification rank of Khan 11 from the World Muay Thai Organization and World Muay Boran Federation, awarded directly by Grandmaster Chinawut “Woody” Sirisompan. His background includes professional mixed martial arts competition since 1999, being a Chicago Golden Gloves semi-finalist in 2007, extensive training in Catch Wrestling under Coach Tony Cecchine, and certifications in Pilates Mat and pre/post natal fitness.
