Oui Chef offers culinary classes where kids take part in cooking and baking. Classes are based around a core theme to provide continuity, and a monthly class menu features recipes that celebrate special events and holidays. Most classes are 75 minutes long.
• Ages: 18 months–18 years old
• Schedule: School Year Class Registration is open, with classes beginning August 31; End of Summer Mini Camps run August 24, 25, 26 and 27; Oui Chef is closed Fridays and Sundays; most classes are 75 minutes long; classes are enrolling at all times and tuition is charged monthly
Oui Chef provides traditional culinary classes for children and teens in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, with a focus on small class sizes, individual work, and individual attention. The program is designed to teach students cooking techniques and information about the food and ingredients they use, and when caregivers are required in class, they are taught methods to involve their child in food preparation at home. The core curriculum is meatless, and the facility is a nut-free environment, with the note that nut-free production of all ingredients used cannot be guaranteed with 100% certainty. Oui Chef is a professional cooking facility designed to accommodate kids of varying ages and skill levels, and the goal is for each student to feel like a sous chef in a professional kitchen and to use the knowledge they gain as part of the food experience at home and when out to dinner.
Chef Laura Ragano is the Chef Instructor and Owner, and Chef Brady Braden is a Chef Instructor. Chef Laura graduated first in her class from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY in 1999 and graduated from The French Pastry School in 2001. Chef Brady attended The French Pastry School in 2007, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Oui Chef is noted as ©2016 by Laura Ragano. All caregivers must sign two liability forms per student before starting classes at Oui Chef.
