Sokol USA Lodge 306 Chicago is a Slovak educational, cultural, and physical fitness organization that specializes in gymnastics classes for neighbors in the community. Sokol USA Lodge 306 Chicago was formed in 1947, has operated out of its current location since 1962, and added the Lodge 306 Museum and Library in 1968. The Lodge 306 Museum and Library, donated by the Dr. George and Ann Matula family, contains thousands of volumes on Czech and Slovak history, culture, and literature, several volumes on Sokol history, many American classics, and museum exhibits honoring Sokol Lodge 306 history, Slovak heroes of the past, and the history of the Sokol Slet. The organization has seen thousands of young people and adults participate in its physical fitness programs. The staff is trained through Sokol Instructors Training Schools and various clinics, is certified by AAU, SafeSport, and Positive Coaching Alliance, and is first-aid, CPR, and concussion certified. The Sokol Community Center is a multi-purpose facility with large halls upstairs and downstairs, is home to the Lodge 306 Museum and Library, and has a hall available for rent for activities and dinners.
