• Ages: 2–10 years old
Founded in 1992 as a non-profit theater company, Chicago Kids Company is now in its 33rd season and has produced 53 original musicals based on fairy tales and children’s stories. Its productions are geared for children ages 2 to 10 and their families and are held at different locations in Chicago. Productions feature professional actors, sing-along songs, brightly colored costumes and sets, and up-to-date references. The co-founders, Paige Coffman and Jesus Perez, still run the company and write, direct, compose, design, and create the productions, and this duo has written and produced every CKC show for the past 33 years. Chicago Kids Company has been proudly introducing children to the magic of live theater since 1992 and performs for over 50,000 people each year. Summer camp and theatre classes are offered during the school year, and camps are described as a way to have fun, meet new friends, and have an opportunity to be onstage. Teachers all have professional theatre experience and give each student an unforgettable theatrical experience. Chicago Kids Company received the Award of Excellence in Theatre for Young Audiences from the Illinois Theatre Association in 2015.
