FAME Center Camps are led by professional instructors who are described as experienced educators, artists, and tech experts. FAME Center was founded in 2018 by Sheila Fortson as a nonprofit focused on multidisciplinary arts education, and she serves as Executive Director and Founder. The leadership team includes board members and professionals such as Marc Doggett, Jodi Koslow Martin, Richard Bloomfield, Zachary Day, Ken Gibbs, Courtney Jackson, Greg Williams, Pamela Norfleet, and Thembi Ndebele.

The mission of FAME Center is to provide equitable access to arts education so that the next generation has creative tools to uncover their potential and imagine their futures. The organization offers instruction in six creative disciplines: music, visual art, drama, creative writing, digital art, and art/music therapy, and FAME Center Camps blend art, music, theater, and dance with classic camp activities in age-appropriate small groups. FAME Center also offers Day Off Camp, Spring Break Camp, and Summer Camp, and activities are tailored to bring out artistic and digital skills.

FAME Center is involved in the community by providing scholarships and community programs in neighborhoods such as Armour Square and Austin, and by forming programming partnerships with schools, community organizations, and businesses. Community efforts also include the “Feeding the Whole Child - FAME Center x Nourishing Hope Snack Bags for Summer” initiative.

One parent shared that their shy daughter “absolutely loved her time at FAME” and came home every day with stories of “exciting new activities.” A student named Matthew said he stayed at FAME because Ms. Sheila made him feel welcome and that her teaching helped him excel in piano and “even other things outside of piano.”
