About

Wonder Woods centers daily activities on child-led free play, with children engaging with playscapes set up by playworkers. Children may spend time drawing, painting, participating in process-based art projects, tree climbing, sculpting and harvesting clay, building stick houses, and digging in mud, dirt, or puddles. They also take part in rope making, making up games and playing them, reading, telling stories, hiking, bird-watching, plant identification, making pretend food, and enacting pretend play such as playing house, family, or cats, along with organized cooperative and competitive games, card games, board games, and skill practicing such as whittling under close supervision of playworkers.

• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Drop-off camp Monday through Friday from 9am–2pm, with aftercare options available until 4pm if enough demand exists; Spring Break Camp March 23–27; Summer 2026 options from June 8–August 14 with choices of all 10 weeks, 6–9 weeks, 1–5 weeks, or MWF or TuTh schedules

The mission of Wonder Woods is to pave the way for children to play and learn in a living ecosystem, every day, in nearly all weather, throughout all four seasons. The program uses playworkers, who observe rather than lead, question rather than assume, practice patience rather than interruption, and create opportunities rather than curriculum, and they refer to the adults in the program as “playworkers.” The program supports self-directed learning and helps children discover their own interests by inviting them to explore different topics through various games, activities, materials, skills, and child-led free play, and it supports risk-taking as crucial to helping children learn, grow, and adapt. Older kids often participate in more organized cooperative or competitive games, card games, board games, or skill practicing such as whittling under close supervision of playworkers. Wonder Woods states that play is at the heart of everything they do and that children and playworkers can create a small, vibrant culture amongst themselves, with shared experiences, agreed-on rules, co-constructed legends and stories, and important roles for every individual.

Wonder Woods states that it is building a community and practicing care for all members in that community. The program is committed to addressing the racial, social, and economic inequality that affects Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color; queer and trans people; as well as people with disabilities or significant economic barriers. Wonder Woods states that it is queer-affirming and future-oriented, welcomes families and kids of all religions, races, cultures, creeds, nationalities, backgrounds, and learning differences, and welcomes and affirms families and kids who are LGBTQIA+, gender diverse, disabled, and/or neurodivergent.
