Briezay Dance Academy offers classes in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, tumbling, musical theater, turns, leaps and tricks, stretch and strengthen, floor barre, improv, and Zumba. The studio offers options for recreational, performance, competition, and walk-in classes, including a Zumba Dance Team with walk-in and performance opportunities for all ages.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Studio hours Monday–Friday 4:00pm–8:00pm and Saturday 8:00am–12:00pm, with office hours Monday–Friday 3:00pm–4:00pm. Registration deadlines vary for competition, performance, and recreational dancers across the 2025–2026 dance season, and Walk-In-Wednesday is offered the first Wednesday of every month.
Briezay Dance Academy has a single studio with a professional sprung floor with shock absorbers, one-way mirrors for parents to watch during class, a space for students to lock up personal belongings, and areas where students can eat, lounge, or study between classes. The program offers classes for toddlers (Tiny Tot), elementary age (Beginner), middle school age (Intermediate), high school age (Advanced), and adults (Adult), with a variety of dance styles available at each level.
Owner, Studio Director, and Instructor Brionna E. Walsh has 24 years of involvement in dance, including travel, competitive, performance, recreational, substitute, teaching, and dance studio-business owner experience throughout the Chicagoland area, and she began choreographing as an assistant dance instructor at eight years old. She has performed yearly routines at Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin and at many theatres in Chicago, and has experience in gymnastics, competitive sports, multiple music and theatre activities, and leadership roles such as poms/cheer Captain and UCA All American Cheerleader dancing on national television for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Brionna holds an Associate in Arts degree from Elgin Community College, has worked as a Marketing Executive, Athletic Director, and Dance Instructor, has been honored for Academic Achievement and Leadership ability from the National Youth Leadership Forum: National Security, and is certified as a Dance Studio Owner and as a Personal Trainer with High Honors from IAP Career College. Summer Dance Camp, Variety Dance, and Zumba Instructor Nina Aguilan is a ZIN Member licensed to teach Zumba, with a background in cheerleading, poms, high school dance troupes, college ballet and jazz at Columbia in Chicago, and recent ballroom classes. Summer Dance Camp Instructor Samantha Holmes is a college sophomore studying English Literature with a minor in Secondary Education at Roosevelt University, started dancing at age 10, trained at Elite Academy of Dance, participated in performance and competitive teams, joined the South Elgin High School dance team, later taught at St. Charles Park District, and has training in jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, poms, and some hip hop.
The mission at Briezay Dance Academy states that the single-studio setup allows each student to receive personal attention to best learn the art of dance, and that dancers are intended to learn about the benefits of health and fitness while having fun. Brionna’s stated passion is promoting health and fitness through the art of dance by sharing her knowledge and talents with her students. Briezay Dance Academy is described as an award winning dance academy and has been awarded Best of Elgin in 2024, 2025, and 2026, with Briezay Dance Academy labeled in 2024 as the “Best Dance Studio in Elgin, IL.” Brionna’s certifications as a Dance Studio Owner and Personal Trainer were both earned with High Honors at IAP Career College.
