Take 2 Creative Camp is a summer program where participants work with computers, cameras, tablets, and different software programs to create a variety of content about themselves and the Elgin community. During the camp, they write scripts, shoot and edit video footage, direct and star in videos, use a green screen, and create vlogs, blogs, podcasts, and other digital projects. Participants also embark on various field trips, document their adventures, and work both with peers and individually as they develop and execute ideas, think outside the box, practice public speaking, meet deadlines, and use technology efficiently and effectively.
• Ages: 12–15 years old
• Schedule: June 15–August 7, Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
• Price: The cost is $25 per participant.
Over the past few years, Take 2 Creative Camp participants have created podcasts, videos, vlogs, clothing lines, books that are available for purchase on Amazon, coloring pages, video games, artwork, tutorials, and fundraisers. The program also includes volunteer opportunities and a Red Carpet event at the end of each summer, where students show their work to friends, family, and the Elgin community. Take 2 Creative Camp is part of YWCA Elgin, whose local programs and services have furthered the YWCA vision of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people since 1901, and whose stated mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
