Founded in 1994, Evanston Junior Wildkits Football & Cheerleading is a grassroots youth mentoring and football organization. The stated purpose of the program is to teach fundamental football and life skills and values to players between kindergarten and eighth grades, to develop each participant’s sense of self-esteem and community pride, and to enhance their understanding of the importance of teamwork. The program became a part of the Central Suburban Youth Football League, which is comprised of teams from the North Shore of Illinois, and it maintains very close ties with the ETHS Football coaching staff, structuring strategies in a manner that is similar and consistent with the high school. The program has implemented educational and behavioral standards that each player is required to follow to maintain eligibility, and it identifies its core values as A-C-T: Academics, Character, Teamwork. Redefined Fitness is listed as a featured sponsor. Equipment return is scheduled at the EJEK Football Office, with instructions to enter through the back of the church at the brown door.
